Last weekend I once again had the pleasure of performing close up magic, for Natalie and Tylers Wedding at The Priest House Hotel at Castle Donnington.

 "Set in a stunning location on the banks of the River Trent the picturesque location makes the perfect setting for romantic break or Wedding venue."

A great day for it too!

Once the wedding breakfast and speeches had finished, everyone was able to enjoy the lovely weather outside, and be treated some of my very own close up magic, until the evening reception started. 

The first table I performed at was great fun, and Tyler came over to watch. After making a pack of cards vanish whilst he was holding them he was hooked.

It was a beautiful day for a wedding, and what better place to be at the The Priest House!

Dovecliff Hall Wedding Magic

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of performing at Dovecliff Hall Hotel, for their Wedding Fayre.

Such a beautiful wedding venue.

 Dovecliff Hall Hotel is an elegant Georgian House nestled in the picturesque Staffordshire countryside, which is one of the most idyllic Wedding Reception Venues Staffordshire has to offer. You can relax and enjoy your special day in the most elegant of surroundings.

I was kindly invited by the event organisers Edward Lewis Weddings, who hold wedding fayres at some great venues including Eastwood Hall, The Derbyshire Hotel, and Scalford Hall.

I was performing accross from Andy who owns Booth Photo 

Decor Chic created the spring decor, which looked great as the light shone through the room.

A great attention to detail, as their chair covers are custom made to fit the chairs at Dovecliff Hall.

Postbox For My Wedding had some great postboxes on display, including 'The Bling'!

A great idea for guest's to place their cards.

Wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses were on showcase, courtesy of Treasure the Day Bridal

East Lodge Wedding Entertainment

Another one of my favourite venues is East Lodge Country House Hotel situated in Rowsley near Matlock in Derbyshire.

I was there for Louisa's wedding.

East Lodge is such a beautiful location, and the wedding was an intimate one with close family and friends on a Tuesday evening.

I was booked to perform my close up magic wedding entertainment for 2 hours, mixing and mingling with the guests.

The Wedding reception was the following Saturday in Manchester where all of there friends, and relatives could attend.

Luckily for Louisa she got to wear her beautiful dress again!

Everyone loved the wedding entertainment, and the bridesmaids were such good fun!

Wedding Magic with a pot of jam!

One of my favourite close up magic effects to perform at a wedding, is the Pot Of Jam trick!

It's very light hearted, a little silly, very unexpected and random, and provides great crowd reactions!

Here's a short video of the effect.

It usually doesn't end there either. After making the jam disappear, it reappears on someones shoulder.

Blackbrook House Wedding Magic Derbyshire

Another one of my favourite Wedding Venues in Derbyshire is Blackbrook House, in Belper.

I've just been booked for another wedding at this Derbyshire venue next year, to perform my close up wedding magic and pickpocketing.

I was recently there performing walk around close up magic for a 70th Birthday Celebration for Bill.

It was such a fantastic afternoon. My favourite part was making a pot of jam disappear, and reappear on Bill's shoulder!

Magic Wedding Entertainment Derbyshire

One of my favourite effects to perform at weddings over the last year, has been the coin bend.

Effect - A wedding guest takes one of their own coins, and signs it to ensure I can't swap it for another one. They hold the coin in their own hand, and it bends.

Sometimes, I'll take it a step further and add in some hypnotic suggestion. Just for fun I might make you believe the coin is made of glue, causing your hand to stick together, and your other hand sticks to the side of your head. 

I might even offer to give you my wallet if you can open your hand!

How strange would it be if you believed there was 1000 helium balloons attached to your wrist?

Priest House Wedding Magic

One of my favourite Wedding Venues to perform at is The Priest House Hotel in Castle Donington.

In the summer I was there for Katie & Stuart's Wedding. A special request of close up magic and pickpocketing, had there guests amazed for the evening!

For the photo shown below, I was about to make a signed playing card, vanish, and appear folded up, inside my wallet. You'll also notice the watch on her right wrist has already gone!

Morley Hayes Wedding Entertainment

This Summer I was at the lovely Pillings Lock Marina in Loughborough for Jude & Matt's wedding day.

Pillings Lock is a great venue for those intimate weddings, with close family and friends. A great summer location by the water with a fantastic atmosphere.

Magic Wedding Entertainment

So why book me to perform close up magic as part of your wedding entertainment?

During a wedding there are a number of inactive periods where there isn't much going off. You and your guests are just waiting for the next phase.

The biggest downtime is after the meal and speeches up until the evening reception. 

Your wedding venue may need to change the room around, and lay the dancefloor ready for the evenings party. Your DJ will need access to set up his equipment and get the uplighting ready and rigged to go.

During this time, you and your guests will be moved to the bar area, or into another room for a couple of hours whilst everything is being set up.

To keep yourself and your guests occupied, talking, and in the spirit for a party during this time, I can walk around performing from table to table, or mixing and mingling wherever your guests are located, to keep everybody entertained and amazed, and to add that extra little touch of magic to your wedding day.

Out of the hundreds of weddings I have performed at throughout the country over the years, this is the most popular timeslot.

I've performed during this time frame alongside jazz quartets, caricaturists, wedding singers, living statues, fun casino's and other unique forms of entertainment.

Voted Best Wedding Entertainer

Hi all

Thought I would share that I recently won an award from The Wedding Industry Awards. Brides who had booked me for their wedding voted me Best Wedding Entertainer in the East Midlands!

So I would like to thank all the now happily married couples who voted for me! It's such a pleasure to be part of a bride and grooms wedding day, and add something extra to it. A touch of magic if you like!

What got me started in magic?

A question I'm regularly asked, so thought I would answer here.

It all started in 1997. I was flicking through the tv channels, when I came across a 'mysterious stranger', performing pure miracles on the streets, for random people. He borrowed a coin, took a bite out of it, then blew it back together, and gave it back.

That moment right there, was when the magic bug bit.

This was the first time I had seen magic performed in this environment. I was never really a fan of big elaborate illusions. Although they looked good, you just knew it was down to smoke, mirrors, and trick boxes. But this was different.

This magician turned the camera around, and pointed it towards the audience. The focus was on them. He revolutionised magic. It's the best tv magic special ever to be made.

It wasn't just the magic effects he performed that hooked me in. It was the reaction of his audience. You could see the wonder, joy, laughter and amazement he brought out in people. That’s when I knew, that’s what I wanted to do.

So to answer the question, 'what got me started in magic?'
